Workforce Equity & Record Unemployment Can Narrow the Tech Skills Gap

By Lisa Fasold

Twin Cities Startup Week has gone virtual for the first time ever with a month worth of virtual sessions celebrating the thriving startup and innovation ecosystem in Minnesota. CompTIA Tech Career Academy is excited to be involved again this year with a panel session, Success Stories: How Interest in Workforce Equity & Record Unemployment Can Narrow the Tech Skills Gap, on Tuesday, September 15 from 11:00 a.m. - Noon CT.

As the economy works to recover from pandemic conditions and our country reckons with systemic inequality, addressing the tech skills gap especially among unemployed and underemployed Americans is more important than ever. During the panel session, hear success stories from employers and graduates of technical job training programs created to address these issues:

  • Shafie Abshir of SUCCESS Computer Consulting
  • Jillayne Berg of Center for Diagnostic Imaging
  • Angela Curtis of Medtronic
  • Tom Hawj of Tech Guru
  • Muhamed Ibrahim of Center for Diagnostic Imaging

The panel is hosted by Kate Kirschner of our career services team at CompTIA Tech and moderated by Jade Denson of the Minnesota Technology Association.

Register for Twin Cities Startup Week access to all the awesome sessions available now. Then join CompTIA Tech on Tuesday, September 15 from 11:00 a.m. - Noon CT.

Hope to see you there!
