What You Will Learn

In IT-Ready Technical Support, you’ll learn technical skills necessary to prepare for your CompTIA A+ certification exam, one of the leading industry certifications for landing a job on an IT help desk and launching your tech career, according to research firms like Burning Glass. You’ll be taught by CompTIA A+ certified instructors and have access to online learning tools and discussion forums to reinforce your studies.

You’ll also receive targeted professional development to refine critical business skills, such as communication, conflict management, teamwork, critical thinking and problem-solving. You’ll be prepared to apply both technical and professional skills starting Day One of your tech job.

Are We a Good Fit for You?

Our goal is not only to train you but to see you land—and succeed in—an IT job. You don’t need any prior tech experience to enroll. However, we have found successful students are:

  • At least 18 years old
  • A high school graduate (or GED holder)
  • A U.S. citizen (or authorized to work in the U.S.)
  • Highly motivated and able to commit to training
  • Able to demonstrate learning, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Able to use a computer to navigate in the Windows environment

Upcoming Programs

Online Campus

Through our Online Campus, our IT-Ready Technical Support program is offered over 16 weeks. Students attend sessions from 9 a.m. to Noon or 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. CT, depending on if they are in a morning or evening class.

Summer Evening Session/Term 1: July 13 - October 30; Applications due by June 13

Chicago

On our Chicago campus, our IT-Ready Technical Support program is offered over 8 weeks. The program is hosted normally at NEIU's El Centro Campus in Avondale, with students attending classroom sessions from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., but with preventative measures in the face of COVID-19, classes are held online until the health situation improves.

Summer Session/Term 6: June 15 - August 7; Applications due by May 22

Fall Session/Term 2: September 14 - November 6; Applications due by August 14

 

Twin Cities

On our Twin Cities Campus in Edina, the IT-Ready Technical Support program runs 8 weeks. Normally students attend classroom sessions from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at our offices near the intersection of Highways 494 and 100, but with preventative measures in the face of COVID-19, classes are held online until the health situation improves.

Spring Session/Term 5: April 13 - June 5, 2020; Applications due March 13

Summer Session/Term 6: June 15 - August 7, 2020; Applications due May 22

Fall Session/Term 2: September 14 - November 6, 2020; Applications due August 14

Applications for the program typically need time for assessment and processing, so apply early!

Students are required to be on time every day; the program allows only one absence and three tardies. Employers expect their staff to be on time, and we expect the same of our students in order to prepare you for your tech career.
